Manako Tamou

Piipii ama, vaevae manava

Ko ai koe?

Polynesian. Female/Womxn. Lawyer. Daughter. Sister. Friend.

This space is mostly for personal reflection. It is essentially a diary – of what I’m up to and what I’m working on. An intentional thought mixtape really, my corner away from the rest of the noise on the internet. To look at my energy and constantly question, critique and refine it. And to be more intentional with the person I actually am and who I aspire to be. Not all the entries are public – especially on reflection points that involve others close to me on sensitive issues.

These entries are about what I know exists in my vā – past, present, and future. It’s a cut in time to my visions, hopes, dreams and failures. Yes – my graceful, ugly and sobering failures; because that’s where the transformation and growth happens.

Aside from the personal posts, the aim is to write more about things that I’m concerned about in the world; what I can play a part in influencing. Which tend to link deeply to the personal in any case. Reposts ≠ endorsement or shared views. It’s most likely I just found the content interesting, unless I expand. Topics I might rant on about include, but not limited to, and in no particular order:

  • Indigenous issues
  • Women’s health (dabbled in reproductive health for a while)
  • Criminal law & society’s incarceration fetish
  • Creative pursuits – mostly for therapeutic reasons
  • Personal musings & lifestyle interests

I’ve had the privilege of spending a lot of time in my parent’s respective villages (as soon as I came out of the womb!) but also acknowledge that my discourse is more rooted in Aotearoa.

Feeling introspective; might delete later.
